Even the best screening tools and digital solutions only work if local teams have the skills, systems, and confidence to use them. In many low- and middle-income settings, shortages of trained staff, limited research ethics capacity, and fragmented training programs constrain the scale and quality of cervical cancer prevention.

Capacity building is therefore a core part of ETiCCS’s work: to ensure that innovations are not just introduced, but owned, adapted, and sustained by local partners.

  • Training of healthcare workers

We deliver practical, on-site training for nurses, clinicians, lab staff, and community health workers in cervical cancer screening and triage methods, including HPV self-sampling, VIA/VILI, colposcopy, and safe, timely referral.

  • Research ethics and methodology

We offer workshops and mentorship in research ethics, protocol development, data protection, and good clinical practice to strengthen local capacity for responsible, high-quality clinical and implementation research.

  • Institutional partnerships

We collaborate with ministries of health, universities, and referral hospitals to align training with national strategies, embed it in existing structures and career pathways, and jointly develop curricula, supervision models, and quality assurance mechanisms.
